Alika Method
You know what to do. Your body knows why you can’t.
Most of us don’t learn basic somatic skills until we’re forced to figure it out in adulthood. A traumatic event or events occur and we become stuck in fight or flight. That suffering creates addiction, burnout, disease, and other forms of stress. Intellectually, we understand how to move forward yet we continue to suffer. Knowing what you need to do and not doing it is not knowing. That’s where I come in.
Aloha! I’m Alika.
My path into this work was different.
I came to healing through spirituality and embodied experience, rather than discovering spirituality later in life as a way of healing. Growing up in Hawaii, spirituality is part of the culture. Unknowingly, I was learning about healing at a very young age. Indigenous technologies, traditions, methods and rituals were passed down to me from my grandfather and other authentic leaders and healers in my community.
My upbringing was tumultuous; my family dynamic was oftentimes very emotionally, spiritually, and physically abusive. In 2006, I left the islands in search of answers to questions I had about my own healing.
I travelled within spiritual communities, tech, entertainment and sports to learn how to help others and myself. After studying numerous massage techniques, Hakomi, Bodynamics, shamanism, bioenergetic healing, martial arts, Kriya yoga, and Tantra with different masters, I developed Alika Method.
The Method
Get out of your head and into your body.
Distilled to its core, the Alika Method is about embodiment. When you are present in your body, you gain direct access to your emotions. And emotions are not simply problems to solve. They contain information, energy, pleasure, grief, wisdom, and, ultimately, the possibility of resolution.
I meet you where you are and guide you toward where you want to go. Sometimes that means knowing exactly where we’re headed. Sometimes it means creating enough space for you to discover the destination for yourself.
The work is body-based and integrated. Rather than focusing exclusively on thoughts and intellectual understanding, we look at the patterns operating across your body, mind, spirit, relationships, and environment.
Through conversation, awareness, movement, touch, and bodywork, I help you recognize unhealthy or stressful patterns and reconnect with the inner wisdom that already exists within you. The goal is to give you the tools to stand on your own two feet, mentally, emotionally, and physically.
I have worked with hundreds of people and witnessed extraordinary changes in the way they relate to themselves, their relationships, and what matters most in their lives. Their success is what keeps me doing this work.
The Session
A typical session lasts about two hours and is broken town into two parts.
01 — Understanding
We begin by talking about what is bringing you in.
Together, we move beyond the surface of the story and begin looking at what is happening underneath your thoughts, behaviors, and familiar patterns. You’ll learn to become still enough to actually feel what is happening inside your body.
Not analyze it. Not fix it. Feel it.
02 — Movement
Once we’ve identified what is present, we work with the body. Using various bodywork and massage techniques, we create space for emotions and physical patterns that have become held or stuck to move.
The work is experiential. You are not simply talking about change. You are experiencing it.
Your Role in the Work
The work works when you do.
How you arrive at a session matters.
So does what you do afterward.
This is participatory work. At times, you may be given practices or homework to continue integrating what surfaced during our time together.
Your openness, curiosity, and willingness to participate are essential.
The goal is not to leave a session feeling temporarily better and then return to the same patterns.
The goal is to leave feeling more whole, more connected, and more capable of carrying that feeling into your life.
You will leave with tools you can continue to use long after our session ends.
